Download ResumeMy name is Lachie McGhie, and I'm a UX designer, though the path here wasn't a straight line.
After high school I studied graphic design at Enmore Design Centre, then tried fashion, learning along the way what didn't fit. What did fit was UX. The moment I discovered it, the mix of psychology, working alongside people, and real problem-solving drew me in, and I knew it was what I wanted.
JourneyThrough all of it, I kept working at the pharmacy, and that turned out to matter more than I expected. The biggest crossover is problem-solving. Someone comes to me with a set of symptoms, and I have to work out the best thing for that specific person. That's needs-analysis, and I've been doing it for years. Helping people day to day, and picking up a lot about psychology in the process, taught me how differently everyone experiences their problems, which is the heart of designing for real users. I've held that role for over ten years. That kind of reliability is something I want to bring to whatever I do next.
ExperienceOutside work, I train regularly, get to live music, watch films, and illustrate.
HobbiesI'm hoping to be your next UX designer, to bring these traits into a team, and to keep learning and growing in the field.
